Hi. I'm new to this site that which was highly recommended by a friend. I purchasd a used 733MHz PIII cpu and mother board and the cpu fan (make unknown) in rather noisy. Does anyone have any recommidations for a decent quiet fan out there. This is for light to meduim usage of a home system. Thanks and God bless!

Hi and Welcome!
With CPU cooling fans, you generally get what you pay for.
Any high-quality ball bearing fan will run quiet and last a long time. A few of the favorite brand names I've either used or heard about are:
Power Cooler
ThermalTake (any of the Orb flavors)
Cool Master
Taisol
And the list goes on. Just remember to get one with a ball-bearing design, and you should do it soon! Don't trust the noisy fan because that most assuredly means that it's on its way out.
Happy shopping.

Hi Steven and welcome,
Thermaltake makes a decent working/decent priced fan/heatsink combo. Should be able to get one localy for around $10.00
Blue beat me to it http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Thanks for your reply. I know that some fans have lower dB ratings than others. Both you and Blue suggested Thermaltake so I'll look into on of those. Thanks again and God Bless.
