I'm looking into a new computer and have decided on a AMD Athlon. I found MicronPC, they seem to be pretty good and PC World recommends them, any one bought anything from them? I also found Cyberpowerinc.com, but never heard of them and can't find any reviews about them. Anyone know anything about these two companies?

Thanks,

Welcome camppen2....

MicronPC is as good as there is out there if they have something you like. Much better than a lot of pre-assembled units that I have seen. Customer support would/should be a consideration as well.

Luck.

Thanks for the welcome!
Yes, tech support is a major concern. Seems like it is going downhill at the big companies though like Gateway and Dell. I can get the system I want at Micron for 1339.00 not including shipping. They have a lot of choices, more that Gateway ( who doesn't have many) and Dell just has Pentiums. I've researched this and AMD seems to have a very powerful processor without as much cost. I'm also looking at being able to upgrade and the "big companies" use a lot of proprietary components that can make upgrading difficult. Just trying to make sure Micronpc is a good company to deal with.

I have just received a new computer from cyberpowerinc.com and I opened it up and turned it on the front side looking for the plug for the monitor. they didn't even put any screws in it to hold the motherboard or the side casing. it said it came through with on board graphics. the motherboard and plates on the back on fell into the computer box, there wasn't one screw on the back side. I called them and explained the situation and they were not only rude but not understanding at all. they also sent the wrong mouse, keyboard and it didn't have on board graphics as was on the shipping label.

[B]BEWARE OF THESE SO CALLED COMPUTER EXPERTS. I WOULDN'T BUY A ****ING CORD FROM THESE PEOPLE.........pirate13.

that's a nasty shock to get when you buy a computer  Just another reason why I built mine.

Consider annoying them so much that they eventually deal with it. :D No JK, you should use an approach that I got from Forbes, believe it or not. Do some research and find contact information for (English-Speaking) people close to the top of the company. These people are often much more courteous than the support people and are more likely to GET SOMETHING DONE. That's my best advice.

Also, no matter whether it is relevant to your topic or not, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't dig up threads more than 1 week old, especially in a flaming rage. Start your own thread, if you would. ;)
