On Win2000Pro, just installed...
1. HP Record Now v3.5
2. HP Simple Backup v4.7 (HSB)
3. HP DLA v3.1
4. Veritas Storage Guard v2.6
When I try to run sgtray.exe I hear my HDD reading [or writing] activity and the "bloop" of the "open Program" event sound, then the "whoosh" of the "Close Program" event sound [I allocated these sounds to those events].
The icon never appears in the System Tray of course.
Any idea that might explain why the program shuts down?
Programs 1, 2, 3 appear to be working ok.

I see in "Startup Control Panel->HKLM/Run" [a display of the setting in the registy HKLM\...\Run key] window, that there is a setting [ticked] for "C:\Program Files\VERITAS Software\StorageGuard\sgtray.exe" /r [don't know what the /r switch achieves].
Process Explorer shows that sgtray.exe isn't running.

Hi Sylvander.. :D
From what I can find.. the /r switch does this:
/r
Replaces read-only files as well as unprotected files. If you do not specify this command-line option but attempt to replace a read-only file, an error results and stops the replacement operation.

I just now used the "Setup Control Panel" to delete the entry for sgtray.exe in HKLM/Run.
This will have deleted the entry for this in the registry key HKLM\...\Run.
Then I went to C:\Program Files\VERITAS Software\StorageGuard\sgtray.exe, right-clicked and clicked Open [to make it run].
Surprise, surprise! It ran. :)
The icon has appeared in the System Tray and I'm able to use the program. :D
Not that any of it is of much use. :(
"Simple Backup" [the program with which it works, [it runs this when told] only makes backups to CD's [I prefer CD-RW's], and perhaps DVD's [I don't have a DVD-RW] which are too small to backup present day HDD sizes.
Beside which, I have an external USB HDD and BiNG, Image for Windows, Image for DOS [the one I prefer at this moment], all of which will backup/restore to/from the USB HDD. :)
