View Full Version : need to replace CMOS battery in laptop

i have an old compaq presario 1235 laptop computer with a cmos battery that has finally died.

does anyone know how to replace this battery?? i found a replacement battery at radio shack for $4bucks, but can't find instruction/diagram on how to go about replacing this battery

i found it...

remove the 3 screws under the speakers, the one screw in the battery compartment.... remove the front cover.. flip back the keyboard.. remove the metal shield... remove the modem... there u'll find the CMOS battery #1220 ($5bucks from radio shack)... replace and reverse order the closure

You didn't have to put it upside down and shake it? :confused:

BTW, I thought Radio Shack was out of business by now?
