hey, im lookin at these 2 cards, and the 7600gt is overclocked and has higher clock speeds than the 7900gt which has more pipelines and is 256bit. the actual 7900gt im lookin at is an eVga, but has the same specs as the one in the comparison, and its only $210 otd.

check it out, let me know what you guys think.

If you want my opinion, wait a couple of months to see if the 8 series, DirectX 10 capable cards come out cos the 7 series card should drop in price.

Having done around 60 hours of research this week to decide whether or not 2 x 7600gt running SLI is better than a single 7900GT I am drawn to the conclusion that the single 7900GT is better overall in terms of stability, power consumption, overall performance, ease of use and finally upgradeability.

HOWEVER:

SLI is still a worth while consideration if your budget is somewhat short.
If you CANNOT afford a 7900GT now - in the UK cheapest is still some £170, it gives you the option of purchasing a 7600GT now for £85 (cheapest I have found at overclockers.uk) and adding another 7600GT when you have saved up a bit.

The same can be said for 7950GX2 - Preferably buy the single highest card but if you cannot afford it then buy the next card down, say a 7900GT and buy another one later when your funds let you.
