http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif I think have a problem. I Installed my newest Maxtor 60gb drive on my existing azza Pt-5vmd mobo. That is not the problem. I fear the problem will come when i have to transfer the Disk drive to the control of a modern Bios.
I needed the drive to work so upon advice i used Maxtor Ez-Bios to setup and address Two 30 gb partions. Now I wonder if I am doomed to use the Ez-bios software on the new proposed Box, or is there a way to transfer the data. I am unclear about this Ez-bios utility and its possibly crippling results. Do I need to worry? Or is there a way to undo this oversight.

Hey,
You should be able to use the same Maxtor software you used to install the EZ-BIOS, to remove the EZ-BIOS. The option for that is usually buried pretty deep in the available utilities, but if you look around, you should find it.
However, be warned that by removing the EZ-BIOS, you may lose what data is on the drive as well. If that's not a problem, then by removing the DDO, (Dynamic Drive Overlay) the drive should be back to manufacturer's specs and be ready for a newer system.
Cheers,

I am glad that I can use the drive again with out the aid of ez-bios. But, what you say disturbs me Because I currently use the Drive as my back up storage, and it's about 75%-85% full of my archives and MP3's. Now, Much to may chagrin I have nowhere to back up my back up drive to. Is there any One disk solution. Or am I only to wait for my next couple of checks so I may get a drive to transfer to.

I don't know of a single hard drive solution to your dilemma. If it comes down to buying new hardware, I'd get a CD-RW before I'd buy a second hard drive. An imaging program (such as Norton (Symantec) Ghost) can backup an entire partition (or disk) using compression.
