Dial-up! Keep Getting Booted...Help

Hi all,

I just signed up on this forum today. But, I have a problem I hope one of you can help me with. I have Dial-up(yuck) and for some reason it keeps loging off. I called my ISP and the tech support told me that it could be one of the numbers I dial up too. So I kept loging on to differnt numbers. But, it kept logging off every 5 minutes. But, right now its seems to be staying on. Do any of you know if there is some setting that I can do to stop logging me off? :confused:

It could be checking your e-mail program is checking your mail when you connect and then auto-disconnecting after doing so. Check in your mail program to if this is how it is set.

If you use Outlook express go to TOOLS \ Options \CONNECTIONS and see if the box is checked if so remove the tick from the box.

Also (if I remember correctly) there is a setting in DUN (dial up networking) that will disconnect after a set period of time if selected. Not to sure about this one as it has been a while since I used dial-up.

Another possible cause could be line noise. Try if possible using a different phone socket or ask your telephone provider to check the line for possible interference.
