Dell Battery Recall!! IMPORTANT!!!!

If you have a dell laptop, the battery might be at risk.

Go to https://www.dellbatteryprogram.com/ and type in your battery's serial number on the Identify option.

It turns out mine is a recall (9-cell on a Inspiron 6000). It's free, just type it in and see if you are supposed to get a recall.

If someone already posted this then sorry for repeating. I just got the email from dell today!

I don't mind repeats when it means you are protected against a possible fire hazard.

The Inspiron 1300 is apparently non affected by this(Amazingly)
And all new machines shipped will be ok aswell apparently as these faulty batteries were only sent out within two certain time frames.

The Inspiron 6400 that I have at the moment is also ok.

The time span was about 18 months ( around about Feb\March 2005 and ending July 2006

These also are connected to a UPS airplane that landed in Philadephia on fire. Seems one of the manifest items onboard were laptop batteries. No one got hurt but the plane burned to the ground.
