PLEASE, I NEED HELP.

I HAVE A DELL LATITUDE LM M166ST THAT MOVES REALLY SLOW. IT HAS 16MB OF MEMORY. WOULD PURCHASING MORE MEMORY SOLVE MY PROBLEM OR ARE THERE OTHER FACTORS INVOLVED? WHAT IS THE MEMORY CAPACITY OF THIS NOTEBOOK? WOULD IT BE LESS COSTLY TO INVEST IN A NEW NOTEBOOK?

WIhtout doing alot of research on it...if it is more than three years old I'd say it would be time to start looking for a new one. Yes more memory would help but it probably has proprietary memeory cards that may be getting hard to find and therefore more expensive, plus there isn't a lot of room for any serious upgrades...this is true of almost all notebooks. You probably can't get a faster processor for it, should be able to get a bigger hard drive, but it will be expensive also.

Alot depends on what you use it for...if you use it some surfing the net or word processing then more memory and cleaning out the extras on the hard drive should improve speed.

Oh, one more thing it is not necessary to post in all caps..it makes it harder to read.

Thank you for your prompt response. It's good to know there is some hope left for the poor thing.

Thank you very much for your prompt response. I really only use it for homework assignments and web surfing. I think I will get additional memory for it afterall.

If you have the Sevice Tag on your computer, Dell (http://support.dell.com/us/en/upgrade/) will show you your upgrade options.

Crucial (http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.asp?model=Latitude+LM+P166ST&x=9&y=7) doesn't stock any memory for your model, so I wish you luck. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
