I have a 486 computor 50mhz and was just wondering if it matters how big of a harddrive that I put in it. I think it only has 16 meg.

The capacity of the drive that it will support will probably be 504MB...but with an add-in card you may be able to go with a larger drive, but finding an ISA card and/or a small drive may difficult. The 486 has been surpassed and is now considered ancient technology and very little new items are around for those machines...they can be found with some searching...try CSO (http://www.computersurplusoutlet.com/) they frequently carry older items....

And 16 mb is probably the ram, not the hard drive. Make sure which one you need. But if your budget is limited, check this site for good deals. http://www.computer-show.com/Modern/items.asp?CartId=7118967NCRGG72&Cc=SYS02
