I have got, a Celeron 466MHz and a -Slot 1- BX M/B (GA-BX2000). I am trying to find out what processor I should buy! The Motherboard's manual says, that the multiplier can be set up to 9.5x and the FSB up to 133MHz. I also know that I can use a fcpga celeron / 66MHz FSB, via Slot 1 to Socket 370 adapter and P III coppermine.
My question is: Might my M/B support the new celerons 100 FSB? Is there any chance I could use celerons with greate multiplier than my M/B supports (9.5x)? I ask the last one because I think that the new celerons have locked their multiplier; perhaphs it sets itself, doesn't it?
Thank you!

You may want to check for a BIOS update...it may have support for additinal processors. The one that is listed here (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/support/intel440bx.htm#linkbx2000) says it takes it upto a 700Mhz Celeron...

Thanks mjc, but I have already checked the whole web site of Gigabyte. I just wondered about the new Celerons 100 FSB, because I know that my M/B supports P-III above 700 MHz! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif Besides there is a section (http://www.gbt-tech.co.uk/support/intel_ratio.htm) in that web site that shows Intel CPU Frequency Ratio Table for Socket 370 / Slot 1 motherboards, in order to support new Intel CPU (Celeron 800MHz and above, Pentium III 1GHz and above!

It might work, but the BIOS may report the wrong CPU speed (if the board has jumper settings for the CPU parameters then it probably will work) but you may have to check it with a third party CPU ID tool...a lot of times the board has been supeceded by a newer model so the incremental BIOS updates stop and the support for newer CPUs isn't added...

My M/B has switches to set the multiplier at 9.5x and the FSB at 100 MHz, so I guess a Celeron 950 should work. It is like a P-III 950, isn't it? (I know that P-III 950 is supported)

Thank you for the information http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif I will also try a CPU tool you told me!
