My system froze up on me today and I think it's because I need RAM. I currently have 256 MB and I would like to add another stick of 256. I have an IBM NetVista w/ P4 processor running Win XP Pro w/ SP2. There is a sticker on the front with this information: Type 6792-2HU S/N KA4XTND. This is a work computer, but I can add RAM or modify it to my liking. (After all, I'm the IT Department.)
I already tried a couple sticks of RAM in the available slot and the system, BIOS, MOBO whatever didn't recognize it. So obviously there are some specifications for RAM that I need to observe before adding it.
I'll gladly provide any further system information if necessary. As an alternative to eBay, where I usually buy this kind of thing, I could pull the stick out that is currently installed, take it to a computer store and ask for an identical stick. But I would prefer to know the specs and purchase on eBay.
Thanks,
