what tv/monitor

i am after buying a new tv/monitor, now is the dell 30" any good for tv via sky+, or hd ready screens are thgy only good for resolutions of 1368 x 768 or whatever they may be, my graphics card is 7950, any advice would be grate full, more concerned about dvd than general tv, but gaming is just as important, maybe a 1080p screen not sure???????????/

budget would be upto and around the £1700 mark and yeah i'd buy online.

There are two HD resolutions 720p and 1080p. 720p=1280x720, and 1080 is I think 1920x1080...

I would suggest a lcd instead of a plasma because you are going to burn out the plasma very quickly if you use it for gaming and as a regular tv.

Sorry for butting in on this thread, but can you use the hdtv as the monitor ie can you boot to it or do you need a seperate monitor as well as the hdtv?
