Toshiba Laptops

Hi Guys
I am planning to buy Toshiba notebook
This will be my first notebook,
please advise which model should I go for, few friends
suggested Satellite A100 series , T2250 processor or T2050 ,
both are duo Core , with 80 GB HD, wireless , 15.4" screen.
DVD burner
Please suggest any ideas ? I am also very worried about the exploding batteries
as well, which battery is the safest, please advise.
need your help guys as its my first laptop purchase.

The issue of overheating batteries you are hearing about in the news concerns DELL and APPLE branded notebooks with batteries made by SONY. There are tiny metal particles contaminating the electrolyte causing shorting and overheating of the battery packs per Dell, and Apple is reporting similar issues with batteries also made by SONY in the same time period.

FYI, Toshiba exclusively uses SANYO batteries and is not having the problems.

My requirements are
Battery life: need atleast 3 hours without power
Screen: 15' atleast
Processor: there are 02 models here in Australia T2050 with 1.6ghz
and 1.83 ghs for T2250 , please advise what are they equivalent to normal desktop , as I have desktop P4 1.6 ghz bought 3-4 yrs ago.
DVD: I need dvd burner as well which is in these 02 models A100 T2050 and T2250 ans both are duo core processors. with RAm of 512 mb and I think T2250 has 1 Gb ram
I wont be playing any games as its most required for my course
and mainly be used for doenloading assigmnents/ exams....
please advise are these 02 models suficint enough , and if T2050 will do the job then I wont spend extra money for T2250 as the only thing extra I am getting in T2250 is the RAM. I have to link this notebook to my cable modem for which I have to buy wireless router. Please advise which model should I go for, A100 T2050 processor with 512mb ram or A100 T2250 processor with 1 GB ram. Both have 15.4" screen, dvd burner and wireless capabilities.
