Mobile phone solutions?

Is there anyway i can access the internet anywhere on my laptop using my mobile phone not using a wireless data card. I heard u can use a usb lead and use special software to access it but i am unaware of this solution. please help....

Depends on your phone. There are some, Blackberries come to mind. You just need to connect via USB (I think) and then configure it as a special dialup modem.

Yeah there are a few salesmen at work that have been doing this on their laptops at home for several years. We use Verizon. It is a very very slow connection though.

You usually can't do it with one of the cheap phones like the ones they give to our field workers, but normal phones can do it no problem. It's just a matter of buying the data cable (about $20) which comes with the software. The cool thing is that it charges your phone at the same time. :p

I would just pop in to whatever dealer you bought the phone from and ask if you particular phone can do this, and if so pick up the appropriate cable.
