Can you please tell what would be a good configuration for a Musician's PC?

Have you tried a GOOGLE (http://www.google.com) search to see what's available. This will probably turn up some decent links to forums or reviews to familiarize yourself with the current status of things in your desired milieu! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

I asked this very question of one of the computer enthusiasts at a local music store. As a recording professional, he told me that the only platform that was really acceptable was a mac. He stated that there is just too much going on in a windows pc that created extra noise and as a result, produced sub-par recordings. He said he owned a p4 and that it was virtually useless as a recording/editing tool.
I'm personally a little dubious about all that, but I would definitely get a second and third opinion before I dropped a cool grand on a new machine. Honestly, I believe you are at the wrong website. As sharp as these folks are around here, I don't think any are recording gurus. And if there are, I'm sure one will show up to hand me my butt shortly. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
Good luck.

Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach him to use the net, and he wont bother you for weeks.

One day I will be a pro, Thanks Andy
In a PC most of it is in the sound card, for serious recording you do not want a SoundBlaster, or any of the cards commonly used in PCs...they just won't cut it. A musician level sound card has more inputs (some where around 6, a couple of them usually line level), more outputs, and a higher resoultion (24-bit) and rate (upto 96KHz)
A fast CPU on a high quality motherboard with plenty of memory (probably 512MB or more) running under a very stable OS (like Win2k) are also needed (desired). This machine should probably be a dedicated rig...in other words don't try to cram as GF3 in it and want to play Quake at earth-shattering volume levels. A modest video card is probably in order.
Here (http://multimedian.com/) is another pretty good source of info.....
