I have had a big probelm since the day i got my computer. My laptop fan is dead loud and i cant do anything about it. I have tried using a program called Speedfan but it doesnt detect any fans in the machine. I am really annoyed now as its giving my head in. I am using a toshiba satellite m30x-129. Is there anything apart from changning the power settings to make the fan a it more quiet.
Thanks in advanced
How old is this laptop?
Is it still under warranty?
The fan shouldn't be that loud, especially when idle. I'd say that it is defective...

Yeaper......that fans defective. I use an m35 and the fan is a little louder than most laptops, however it's not something annoying.

My M30 is just a little too loud -- but the fan only kicks in every ten minutes or so during normal use. When I'm running something really processor-intensive (such as Folding@Home), it is on almost constantly, and even then it's not that bad. If it makes as much noise as you say it does, then it's probably dying. Is it on more than usual?
I'd suggest getting it looked at ASAP. And don't go voiding your warranty (if it hasn't run out yet).
