Sun was having server management issues, file posted went back to Upgrade 7, then 6, then finally a reliable 8.

So should I un-install the version I have now and install this one?

Yep...unistall all previous versions and drop in the new one.

If it shows as Update 8, you most likely got Update 8.
I saw user reports on another site where some users thought it was what they loaded and found different results when installed.
Of course it would not hurt to uninstall and re-download to be certain. I have been choosing the offline file method for installation.

I always grab the offline version...force of habit.

I then burn it to disk (or dump it to my flash drive) to update every other computer I come in contact with...(which reminds me...I need to do my SiL's machine...)

The version I have is the exact one that you have linked to.I just installed that one on my girlfriends laptop and it's the exact same.

And it shows up as update 8 so it's all good.
Thanks for the info PrntRhd.

Not to mention mjc. :D
A couple of years ago he explained Byte/Verify as relates to Java to me.
Now I help explain Vundo/Winfixer exploits as relates to Java to others.
