All right, dropped notebook and cracked LCD. Bought replacement LCD and installed it fine. Still no vid, but backlight is on, brightness changes, external vid fine. Bought vid cable and replaced, still no vid.

Something peculiar though, when wiggling cable out of board connector, right before connector comes out, vid flashes on screen (using both cables). This tells me that LCD is good, cable is good.

Whats up, broken connector on board???

Am I missing something, BIOS settings?????

Hopefully LazLaptop will see this, but I think that you are correct in guessing the problem is with the connector. I'm going to guess that the drop also damaged the connector or at least its solder points...

Yeah, thats my worst fear. I am an electronics geek, but I wonder if the connector could be repaired, soldered or replaced??

Any thoughts????

Get a good flashlight and look for cracked solder joints/board structures.

I would like to see a couple of other thoughts on it...but I guess it depends on the type of connector it is and whether it is the solder joints or the traces that have been damaged.
