I hope I am not breaking any rule with this post, but you, computer geniuses, are my last hope.
I just bought a CD-RW but can't install it into my Packard Bell 'cause I need the brown rails to mount it, and Packard Bell ain't no more.
I went to every computer store near and far, nothing.
Finally, one sold me black plastic rails; said he plays with them: cut, twist, makes them fit somehow. Not working...

Then I thought of you, building your own computers, playing with old machines...
Maybe, just maybe, someone just happens to have an old Packard Bell sitting in a corner doing nothing. And wouldn't mind unscrewing two rails just to give a nice Christmas surprise to this little girl. What do you think? It would really, really be appreciated.
Love to all.

Heck Fran use some duct tape and tape it to the side of the box. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif

I lost the link for it. Maybe pete still has it. But there's a place in Austin That has rooms of old "stuff" that has been donated. Supposed to be a good source for those hard to find items. Also has PC Museum.

Seems like it had something to do with Goodwill Industries or something similar in Austin. And has a website.

Do you have any diminsions etc. on these rail?

Luck.

Is it possible to epoxy do it yourself, hand made plywood shims to the inside of rack? Then run longer screws through wood and into drive. Sorry if this sounds crazy, but I'm a carpenter and we cobble stuff up using whatever is at hand.
