This may be a dumb question but could I hook up more than
4 IDE devices to my computer, with an extra controller card
or what not??

Promise Technology, Inc. (among others) makes a controller card for this purpose. Not cheap though. If you are in the mood, changing to a mother board with additional IDE channel capabilities can be considered. Check out boards with raid, if new Mobo interests you.

Hey,
SIIG makes a cheaper controller card than the Promise. I have used the Promise card though, and it's top notch. You might get what you pay for.
Yep, all you need is an available PCI slot and you can not only add more IDE devices, but you can add IDE devices that are large and/or UDMA66 or UDMA100 capable.
Have fun.

Bill,
many, many choices
Start shopping at:
Pricewatch.com (a shopping bot)
under I/O
click controller cards
click dual channel
most companies listed will have 800# tell them what you want to do. They will give you choices.
Or try your local retail computer builder/store.
I'm kinda laying it back on you to do the leg work here.
Unless anyone else has a recommendation??????
