i cant stand Compaq's!, everything was going fine and i have 3 hard disks with Windows 98 on them!, i placed them in my compaq, all of them indivigually, on the single setting, the compaq kept comeing back with OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND ON ANY DEVICES.... i sware i could scream!, what should i do?
Did you go into the BIOS and detect each drive after you put it in?
Double check the cables and jumpers.
Double check the boot order...make sure that if something other than the hard drive is first that the floppy and CD drives are empty...

DYNAMIC AUTO-DETECTION
[Better than Static Auto-Detection]
It Auto-detects your drive[s] at each new startup.
Hence, if you change your HDD [for example], that will be detected and new parameters set that match the drive, so they should ALWAYS be correctly set.
STATIC AUTO-DETECTION
You do this manually within the BIOS Setup.
The drive is detected just the once, and the parameters are set correctly for that HDD.
If you later change the HDD you'd need to redetect it all over again, or else the parameters are liable to not match the drive.
