Welcome to the PC Guide forums!
The short answer is always "maybe", but actually "probably" would be a better answer.
What OS/version are you using for each PC?
Have you set up file sharing for both PCs on the network?

Canons link in the FAQ How to share one of their printers in a network.
It is shown using a Hub.. your router will serve as the hub

Sorry link quit working after closing the window

What I did was run a search for network sharing under the canon FAQ's and it gives detailed info for adding the printer to the lan

this link works, choose By Category.
look for How to Add a Printer to be Shared from the "Add Printer" Icon in XP.
It also shows how to Add a Printer to be Shared on a TCP/IP Network if that is the route you wish to use.

This is real simple.

1) Let's choose a name for your network. (homenet)
2) Let's choose a name for each PC (station1 and station2)
3) Install the printer on whichever PC is going to be the main PC (station1) and if it asks to install drivers for other OS's, say yes.
4) Go to Station1 and rt click on My Computer and choose properties
5) Select the Computer Name tab and click the change button that appears after the statement: To Rename this computer or join a domain.
6) Enter the computer name and the workgroup name in the appropriate boxes
7) You will be welcomed to the homenet work group. DO NOT re-boot yet.
8) Disable the windows firewall.
9) Go to the printer section and rt click on the printer and choose sharing.
10) Enter the share name as canon.
11) Re-boot and wait for it get to the desktop
12) Go to station2 and repeat steps 4,5,6,7,8 and 11.
13) From station2, go to add a printer
14) Click Next at the first box
13) Highlight network printer and click next
14) Highlight the connect to this printer and in the box type in \\station1\canon and click next.
15) Follow the bouncing ball and the printer driver should be installed.

This will require that station one be on and at the login prompt before station2 is turned on.

Thank you so much. I've been trying to get my printer established on my network but the language everyone uses is so confusing and so much is taken for granted that technomorons like myself find it impossible and give up. My printer is now working for my two computers with the help of your instructions.

THANK YOU
