which chipset would you choose for a new mobo hosting one of the XP processors?

It's a toss-up presently between the KT266A and the new nVidia chipset. For performance. The SiS chipset is excellent.
If $ enters into the equation, the 266A is readily available by major Mboard Mfg's and it will perform with anything out there.
266A is the best thing VIA has done.
Luck.

The AMD 761 is OK. I use it in an extra PC I have with a GA-7DX Mboard. My only knock on this is it uses the "old" VIA 686B SouthBridge.
The Sis 735 as used on the ECS Mboard K7S5A series is really a bang up chipset. The NorthBridge and SouthBridge are combined into one unit. This thing will really humm. However, ECS options are kind of limited. Bus Speed adjustments can be done tho.
