Welcome to the PC Guide forums KC5! :)

Those are good specs. The video card is not the greatest but will run the listed games without problems. If you are heavy into gaming it would be worth going ahead and getting 2GB ram. The newest games can use the extra ram. Although the listed games are older and don't need it.

If this is an OEM PC (Dell, HP etc) it is just as well in my mind to have the X1600 as you can purchase a better video card and put it in yourself later for far less cash than you can get it from an OEM.

To sum up - Overall good specs, but the video card and ram could use an upgrade if you plan to play the latest games. If not, then this will do great for the older ones you listed.

Totally agree with jlreich.... nice spec machine bar the video card.

May also be worth getting an extra hard drive and running on Raid0 or use a Raptor 10000rpm drive. If you can afford it, take a look at X-Fi sound cards if you're into gaming in a big way - expensive but awesome! - with headphones on, you can tell which direction the enemy are firing at you from etc....

You haven't listed any prices so cannot really compare bang per bucks.

Yeah, tell us your budget. Also, CS doesn't need too much of a powerful PC:
System: PII 333 or equivalent
RAM: 64 MB RAM
Video Memory: 4 MB VRAM
3D Sound Card: Yes

I really only wanted to spend $1500 for my new comp.. Includeing a $150-$200 moniter. So about $1300. The above one was going to run me $1900 with the $200 moniter included. A little out of my price range, But the thing is I dont want to build it my self. I dont know very much at all about putting together a comp. I would much rather buy one pre-made. The one I listed is from Alienware. You can prutty much custom buil your comp there which is really cool. But i heard they are really expensive. so I Don't know!!

They build it for you they are just going to cost alot more. You can build that yourself for around $1200. I would look around on how to build tuturalers. I havn't even made a build my self but know how to build a system. MAybe not everything but no the major parts. Just look for compatibility. There is no reason wasteing money, even though the are a good company. You will just lose more moneny that way.

I have made a build myself much like yours. It is about 1600 without moniter. I will post is later becacase I have no time left.

Like I said that system is pretty good. And will play the games you listed with no problems at all. I only mention the upgrades if you want to play newer games like Oblivion and such they would be beneficial. But the way it is configured now it would still play Oblivion with decent settings.

Also keep in mind upgrades can be done at a later time if needed and when budget permits. It's just more cost effective to get them now, but if you don't have the cash right now then it really doesn't matter. ;) And it's a solid system. I don't know certain things about it like what motherboard it has, but since it has the new Core 2 CPU it has to be a new generation motherboard. So I think it is safe to say the system has good bones and will readily accept future upgrades. :)

As far as building goes I do agree you can build it yourself for a lot less, but building is not for everyone. So if building is something you are just not interested in then that's perfectly fine. We are here to help either way :)
