I want to install a maxtor 100gig 7200rpm ultra/ata100 hd I will install win me first. I will upgrade to 256k of ram. will my system suport this. here's what I'm running. Operating System System Model

Maybe...since you will be going to ME you won't have to worry about the OS causing limits on the hard drive, but I wonder about BIOS imposed ones, and the current motherboard may not support the ATA100, which may or may not be a problem. Some drives will run and be detected ok if hooked up to a lower speed IDE channel others may not detect until they are reset with the manufacturers utility (my Seagate was like this...), most are set, by default to their max so you may have to roll it back to ATA33 or 66, first.

Also don't try doing the 256MB on one stick, you'll probably have better luck using 2 128MB sticks...if you have a manual for it it should say what the capacities are.
