hey all, the pc im on atm does not have a video card so i cant watch full screen vids without serious frame rate issues and will just give me a black screen for video games. this is a custom built pc which my bro gave to me to replace my dads old windows 98 pc, now the old pc has a video card n i was wonderin how do u switch or install video cards. do i just unscrew the side of the old pc..unscrew the card with the monitor slot on it and replace the one on the new pc and follow prompts? any info would be good.

i downloaded sandra cuz apparently i needed to know what motherboard i had (i dont know anythin about hardware on pcs) n it came back with Manufacturer - Micro-Star International
MP Support - 1 Processor
MPS Version - 1.40
Model - MS-7060

thanks :)

You first have to make sure that both MoBos have the same video card slot. The old pc may have a card in a plain old PCI slot which may or not help you.

The best thing to do is to look at the two slots and see if they are the same... if so, yeah, take out the screw and take out the card.

Then, on your PC, uninstall the driver for the old card and shutdown. Put the new card in the slot and turn on the PC. Windows may find the drivers and install it for you, if not, go ot the manuf website, get the drivers and install the drivers.

If you are currently using the onboard graphics capabilities of your board, then there will be nothing to 'remove'...just plug a card into the open AGP slot.

Your board has a 4x/8x AGP slot, so that means you can use just about any AGP card on the market...it MUST be the AGP version of the card (not PCIe ).

when you install windows it installs tempory drivers which are a load of ****!!!

honest try to install the agp drivers first

then please ask your brother if he wont mind sending me a copy of the driver cd! i lost mine and have the same problem with slow as hell refresh!!

cheers and good luck
(the onboard graphics card isnt bad at all!)
