I'm trying to get an AD1881 chip going in a SFF Compaq.
The computer is a Celeron 500(socket 370), and uses that 810e Intel chipset.
This model of Compaq does not seem to have a model number, it is just referred to as a "Deskpro". I have looked all over the case, and then pulled the machine to bits looking for some ID info to help me find the model number, but no luck.
The only thing printed on the PCB is "Compaq. System board. (c) 1999"
Well, that's really helpful!
:p
After a lot of hunting, I concluded that it must be a SFF EN series, and went hunting on the HP site for some drivers. Armed with a "SoftPaq" download, I installed, but was dismayed to find that the installer dies with a "Cannot find driver." error. The message also instructs to re-boot and run setup again, which I did, to be presented with the same error again - we're going in circles, so I stopped at this point...
I would like to get the on-board sound going, but if push comes to shove, I will simply plop in an add-on PCI soundcard of some kind - any kind at all, in fact, so long as I have drivers for it!
:D
So what I am getting around(slowly) to ask is, does anyone know where I can get some drivers for the AD1881 chip for Win 98SE?
I went to Analogdevices website, but they don't seem to have generic driver downloads available for their own flippin' products, which astounds me...(unless I did not see where they are hiding the downloads).
I tried sites like driverguide, but the three packages I downloaded did not work in this machine, so I gave up for today due to mental stress.
Can anyone help me out here?
2:27AM - time for sleep.
