Klipsch speaker question

I'm looking at these speakers at ebay. They are new but the volume crackles when turned. The sound is fine when the knob stops. What could be causing this? Bad potentiometer? It's a steal if I can fix it.

Did you buy them yet or are you just looking at them to bid on?

Turn the volume to 'ten' with the pot, use your pc to adjust the rest. :)

Use some tuner cleaner to clean the pot and if unsuccessful after a few tries, replace the potentiometer.
