Is there a feature/extension for FireFox so that I can specify webpages that can be blocked?
For example, i don't want my sisters friends to be downloading Limewire (or any other P2P programs for that matter) onto my parent's computer.
Any help would be awesome.
Thanks,
MIke
The problem is, that no one soultion is going to prevent all possiblities of downloading it (or any P2P) app.
Limewire is available from a large number of download locations, so in order to block it, you would need to block them all...and probably for all downloads. I don't know of any extensions that will block downloads like that. Firewall rules and/HOSTS files could probalby do it...
Maybe a properly written Group Policy (XP/2K) would be able to prevent all downloads (probably not a very good idea on a shared system....)
It would be nice to have an extension for FF that you could use to build a download blacklist (based on filename/location).

Have a look at the following software (freeware) which will allow you to block out chosen websites. Similar to NetNanny but a wee bit more basic. But the cost of-sets that :D
I have not tried it out myself yet but from what I have read about it - it might be worthwhile for you to have a look

The best way to control unauthorized installation of programs when using Windows XP/2000 is to set up limited user accounts and not allow program installation for that level of user.
Guest accounts don't allow users to install anything, they can only use the programs the Administrator installed.

Hm ok, but my parents computer is space limited (hard drive is small), so there isn't room for multiple users. I think i'll try out that K9 program. Thanks Ernie for the tip and thanks to mjc and PrntRhd for the extra input.

Making limited users has little effect of the HDD space, FYI.
It is a password/rights function.
