Whatever you do, stop using this PC. Don't write to the hard drive . Each time you do, you lessen the chances for recovery.
Please provide full and detailed information on what happened to your PC and its data.

If it's true that you only "deleted" them, then they will be sitting in the Recycle Bin [still occupying space on the HDD], and available to be "Restored" to their former location and status.
Unless that is...
a) You deleted them from the Recycle Bin...
OR...
b) Your Recycle Bin is configured to have very low capacity...
In which case, some files may have overflowed the bin capacity and been deleted from the bin.
If they are not in the Recycle Bin [provided they have not been irrecoverably "erased" using something like "Eraser"], and have only been "Deleted" from there...
The "Emergency Boot CD" [EBCD][linked below] includes an "Un-Erase" program on its 2nd menu.
Actually, this program finds and restores [if still possible] files that have been "Deleted" [not irrecoverably erased].
The EBCD runs outside of Windows [Windows not loaded from the HDD], and reads the contents of the drive looking for deleted files that are recoverable [no non-contiguous parts of the file have been overwritten with (parts of) other files], because they are still complete.
Fairly simple to use; don't know how it stands in comparison with other programs.
The EBCD also includes an "Un-Format" program.

This makes it easier to boot a chosen drive [particularly the one holding the EBCD].

This has a number of useful utilities included including "Image" [for DOS, by Terabyte] for making/restoring image backups of partition contents, & "File Manager" to browse/manipulate partition contents.

I have had pretty good success with a very small free program called Restoration (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html). I Just ran it on my kids computer a few days ago and it recovered files that were deleted when the computer was built back in December 2004. Not all the files were recoverable as I assume parts of the files were overwritten through the last two years, but many were.
A very handy tool to have around for those "oops I didn't mean to delete that" moments.

You may try a software named RunTimeGetDataBack. It's a useful software that you can find all your deleted files back. But it's not free so the better way is try jlreich's recommended software at first. :)

Its GetDataBack from www.runtime.org and it is free as long as you only recover one file at a time.

I recommend pandora recovery. It is completely free. Not a crippled version or trial version. www.pandorarecovery.com ;-)

This is your second post here promoting this software (free or otherwise). This looks like spam so why are you promoting this software so aggressively both here and on other forums?
No good reply and you will be banned and all links removed.

Seems like pandora is a pretty new kid on the block. Note that it only "recovers" from NTFS file systems (not FAT ones) and only runs on 2K to Vista - all of which can natively read NTFS. It looks like it has some uses as an elaborate "total file explorer" but its not clear how it would get on if the file system or partition metadata were damaged. Pity it doesn't run on DOS-based OSes because it would have made a useful NTFS explorer from those OSes.
benino - I'm giving you just another 48hrs to respond.

Paul. Sorry for not answering. If it is wrong that I've created another account here to answer you please let me know. I dont mean to be a spammer or anything. I hadnt' been back on here in a while. The software is not adware, so I didnt think it was spam to post about it in a thread where someone Posted asking for file recovery software.
To answer your other question, there are plans to develop an update with support for fat file systems. As of now it is only for NTFS.

You are more than welcome to stick around and become a useful member of the forums. We have a very low tolerance of new users appearing here to promote other wares and that becomes even more obvious when googling for benino and pandora (http://www.google.ie/search?hl=en&q=benino+pandora&btnG=Google+Search&meta=).
It seems (from your knowledge about its future development) that you have links to the development of this software which is free now but who knows if that is the long term intention.

Thanks. :) The intention is for it to remain free.
