What's the size of the files you want to put into the drive C:? Did you check the size drive C: in properties or disk management?
I think it's usual for absent of incoming trafic of internet line. Did you try repair it or restart it as well?

Without knowing what size disk you are dealing with, what OS you are using and other specs for your computer, we can only guess at the problem and possible solutions... Please post details about your system...
Windows XP sp2;
Primary C: partition basic NTFS 18.55GB free space 43MB
Ext.logical drive D: partition basic NTFS 18.75GB free space 11.69GB
McAfee virus scan enterprise---updated, no viruses.

"deleted 2.3 gig file...but...there was no free space on disk C:"
"Deleting" files doesn't free up any space on the HDD.
All that does is send them to the Recycle Bin, where they are still occupying space.
To free up space...
You must either...
1. "Erase" them [makes them irrecoverably gone] using "Eraser".
OR...
2. "Delete" them from the Recycle Bin [can be un-deleted].
Get a good Application that will display your "drive" space usage in such a way as to show probable "Space Wasters".
I use DiskFrontier (http://dl.winsite.com/bin/downl?500000031670) [not for XP], and WinDirStat (http://windirstat.info/) [XP and others].
Thanks, deleting recicle bin was great idea.:)
it gave me 1.2 Gig free space.
2.3 gig file was not there, its size was above and was deleted permanently.
Thanks for http://www.winsite.com/, great small games.:p
Disk frontier is simple and helpful.
i found the reason and file.
thnks.

Also, note the amount of space you are allowing for System Restore and temp folders... Clean out the temp folders regularly... I would also turn off the Indexing Service in WinXP... Then I would consider getting a second drive... I just saw something like an 80gig drive on sale for about $20 USA after rebates a few weeks ago and it is common to find then for about $40....
thanks
i have no idea what is Indexing Service .
80 gig drive samsung or seagate here about 65$.

As I said, that was a sale with rebates... If you want that, you need to watch the sales closely and get there fast if it is offered... The point is that even $65 is a great price...

You have XP and windows creates a Dr. Watson Log of all failures. Please check this log as it can easily fill your drive. It could a memory problem or a motherboard problem.
Unless you know you filled the drive with programs and data you need to dig deeper.
