Okay, the upgrade is done, and it wasn't too bad. We've gone from v 3.0.5 all the way to v 3.6.1 of vBulletin.
It's mostly the same software, but should have a few more perks. There are also likely to be the occasional problems, and some stuff missing that I haven't had a chance to add back in yet.
For some reason the little PC hardware icons aren't showing even though that hasn't changed...
Let me know if you find anything else.. thanks.

BTW the chat room will be down for a few days. I need to figure out what I need to upgrade, there's a brand new version about to come out, and then I have to find out how to re-integrate it into this new vB version (which handles customizations in a totally different way.) Sorry. --c

Well, I noticed a "Empty folder" option for PMs now exists.
The Quick Reply for posts does not seem to work for me though..ok I found you click the far right pen icon and it allows quick reply.
Who's Online is gone.
The recent posts area at the bottom is gone.
The edit/save changes is much cleaner.

Ok, that works OK for me. Have we had the auto-quote before?
And Fred, you were right about quick links too.

Another thing that is new is getting the quote in the email notification. And the little arrow next to the name in the quote linking to the quoted post. :cool:
What do you mean auto-quote?

"Insert Link" gives no first text box for inserting text; only the 2nd URL box.

I cannot get QUICK Reply to work.
Box greyed out and says to click on any icon to enable.
When I try to click onto one of the icons to enable QR it is as though they are just small gaphics and not links.

You need to click on the quick reply button in the bottom right of someones post.

You no longer have to click to use quick reply.
The most recent threads at the bottom was a hack. I'll have to see if there is one for the new software.

For avatars and uploaded images. Avatars fine, but if you are uploading images in After Hours of say, a map or schematic, just for example, a larger filesize allowance would be a blessing.

Full WYSIWYG Editing no longer functions since the upgrade.
I, too, miss the Recent Posts.

Guess that's what I get for going off on a tangent and not even loking at the Forums for a week or three. Hey, you get a little burmed out now and then...or I do anyway...
Looks good to me, haven't had a chance to check out any features yet, since this is the first thread I looked at, but I do notice the feature I've always wanted most is still missing...I still have to type everything mys4elf... :D

Pete you should get yourself a cat and train it walk over the keyboard. Saves a lot of time on typing and the result makes more sense than I do at times :D

I wanted to comment of why a space is introduced after 50 letters of continuous text and that the new software hadn't changed this. See the space between the W and S of WINDOW S in the first line and between the o and the s in Micro soft in the second line.
In attempting to highlight this using bold text - lo and behold the space just disappears!! Something funny there with the way posts are parsed!!
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Pro"
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Pro"
He He - and if all the text is made bold the spaces reappear!! ;)
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Pro"

Hey check it out. I made the color of the two letters black and it's the same as making it bold. :cool: I take it any kind of code tying together the two letters that would normally separate is all it takes. Nice going Paul. :D
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Pro"

jlreich's tweak looks nicer than mine but perhaps surprisingly I now find that code and php tags around the code does now work and this didn't use to be the case so some change has taken place after all.
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
This solves an old problem of peeps copying and pasting text (notably boot.ini) with gaps in it. The Code tag should be used however - since the backslash \ is omitted from the php code where it functions as it ought to as an escape character for any succeeding character to be interpreted as intended by the code itself; (\n for example inserts a new line into a text string and neither the \ or the n would appear in the parsed text - just a new line). The backslash can be seen if the text is enclosed in inverted commas but that just adds unnecessary text to what is not in actuality php code.
"default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S"

You click the Multiquote button in each post that you want to quote in your reply. When you click Reply, all those selected posts will be quoted.
