Hi guys
I'm looking for a way to create downloadable pdf forms that can be filled in then e-mailed.
There's a dizzing array of "solutions" that come up in Google but there's never really an good explaination as to whether the pdf forms can be filled in without additional software.
If there is a better solution, (cross platform, portable) I'm more than interested in trying it.

Properly created pdf documents can be filled out by anyone who has the Acrobat Reader installed. I've used tools in php and cold fusion to populate the forms for printing and such, but don't know of any third party tools to create the forms properly. I've only seen that capability with Adobe's premium priced tools.
I've been wracking my brain over this, too and I agree with Pangea, I can't think of anything other than the $$$ Adobe stuff.

One of the SERIF product range a llows you to do this. Not to sure which one it is though. And Serif is a LOT cheaper and less hassle than Abode.

I had a troll through Seirfs site and came up with the following for PP11

Try OpenOffice version 2.
Create an HTML form and then export it to a pdf file. All I did was setup a form with a single check box on it but the resulting pdf file seems to work just fine.
Woops - of course the resulting file is not editable without Adobe. Sorry.

Thanks for the clarification, Ernie. I knew that 9.99 was close to 10, but I had no idea as to which side it fell. J/K
