I'm considering putting WinXP on my Dell Dimension 4100. 933mhz,256mb sdram,NVIDIA GeForce2 GTX 4X AGP graphics accelerator with 64MB of DDR,Intel 815E chipset, I am currently running Win98se, should I do the upgrade or a clean install? What are the pros/cons? Any help would be appreciated.

I don`t know how really is "upgrading" and many will disagree but I always considered upgrades a sort of "patch" applied to a good working but now obsolete system. And when the "future XP SE" will come out are you going to put an upgrade over an upgrade over the OS?............naaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
we are talking about computers not sandwiches!
better the full install. I did it and it went smooth like a baby`s butt http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
take care

If you have the room i recommend doing a dual boot-this'll let you evaluate XP and still keep your w98 with all your info intact.

iisbob, I'm sure you are right. I have a 20GB HD, the problem is I dont have the PC Prowess that you all have. I would without doubt screw something up. All that fancy talk scares me Fdisk, Partition, CMOS, Flash Bios?????????? Thanks for your input gang
