Well, I just opened my e-mail program(OE) and at the very bottom I saw an e-mail that had apparantly been opened but I did not remeber. The sender was 'bwhannon' I clicked on it and recieved a virus warning 'klez?' I clicked 'clean now' and then deleted it. The subject line was 'march 13 2002' the body of the letter was blank. I then closed all programs I could find and di a deep scan of all files, there was only one it could not scan either it was running or was encrypted. My av did not specify which file it was.I then checked my sent items folder to be sure that nothing had been forwarded that I did not do myself.
Question: My wife is asleep so I have not had the chance to ask her if she opened it, if she did not can they actually open themselves even if you have preview pane turned off? If she had opened it I'm sure she would have gotten the warning in fact she should have gotten it before it finished downloading and I'm sure she would have came and woke me up.

Better get the ball rolling here (http://housecall.antivirus.com/) and also update your AV and try again. I beleive most AV sites post a clean up proceedure to fix that and other stubborn virii, so a trip to their site is in order as well.

Good luck.

I have done a deep scan on all files with the latest virus update with no virus being found. I asked my wife about it and she said that it came the other day and she did get the warning but I had overlooked briefing her on what to do(my fault) so I guess she just closed it. She doesn't often check the e-mail very much or even get on line so I just dropped the ball on preparing her properly.
By the way my av is a team effort between trend-micro and the folks at ontrac. I am very happy with it and trust it. Thanks ted and yoda. yall is kewl http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
