My Computer does not refresh - XP Pro SP2

If I create a new object in My Computer using New it does not appear in the
window unless I do View/Refresh.

Similarly, if I rename a file the new filename does not appear unless I do
View/Refresh.

The file indexing service is running.

Has it always been that way or did it just start?

It has started recently since I used Acronis to clone the original disk to a larger one.
