im going to get a new 40G HD. 98 will be put on the new drive and i still have 98 on the old drive, i would like to know if it is at all possible to

Yes the old drive can be set to slave after you install 98 on the new drive

If you Intend to do a clean install of 98 on the new drive
I found it best to install it. Run Fdisk, Format, and do the install
Then reinstall the old drive as slave.

RUN Fdisk again from a boot floppy and set the Active drive again to the new drive,
This will avoid Boot Lockups from having Two Active drives installed

If you intend to use one of the clone programs It “should” do this for you.
