View Full Version : Camera Lens Stuck
I have a Kodak Easyshare LS443. It keeps giving this error: camera error # E45. I looked it up, and found the lens was stuck. A suggestion was to lift the ring on the lens. After a few tries, it opened but wouldn't close, error is still there. Is there anything else to try, maybe by opening the camera?

Try new batteries and get the camera back to Kodak for replacement.
It's not under warranty, and if it were would cost a lot to fix. From what I read it would do it again in a few months anyway. That's why I would like to learn how to fix it myself. I was hoping someone here would have instructions [maybe with pictures?], or be able to describe how to do this. Maybe someone who fixes digital cameras posts here?

Wow, apparently, this camera should be painted a bright lemon color...
"A previous post a few pages in, I think in 2004, suggested gently pushing up on the lens housing while you turn on the unit. I tried this, at first on the outer ring (didn't work), and then on the inner "cylinder", this time it worked. I have turned it on and off several times now and it is working fine."
"Re the E45 error .... my kodak camera showed the same. Didn't have the time or patience to send it back to kodak so ... undid 3 long screws from side and 4 short ones from base - prised apart carefully and cleaned the circular metal bit which is underneath selection dial. Put camera back together again and after re-setting the date and time, it all works perfectly."

THANK YOU, I'll try the second one [already tried the first, as I said above]!!! I hope this works, actually from what I've read all of the Kodak Easyshare LS443 cameras should be lemon yellow, lol!

I just had the exact same problem with a Kodak DX7630. I had to gently twist the lens inner (larger) cylinder until it retracted. Once it was retracted the camera started working as normal. I would recommend not pushing on the lense since it is a rotating motion which allows it to extend and retract. Hope this helps someone.
