View Full Version : Tiling images safe mode

Using any other mode than normal booting windows xp (when the driver of my ati radeon 9250 isn't activated!!!), a strange phenomenon is seen at the lower part of my screen known as "tiling":

the right 10x5 cm rectangle is on the left!
the left 10x5 cm rectangle is on the right!

So in the middle of my screen the "time"-indicator is just to the left of the START bar.(see attachment)

When I enter in normal mode(when the driver of my ati radeon 9250
starts working) there's no problem.

Is there any solution to this problem?
Especially annoying when I'm trying to play older ms-dos games or having to enter in safe mode booting.

Ps: my screen is neovo 17E and they say it's no screen problem, but a problem related to the videocard. Ati doesn't answer because it's a problem when the videocard driver isn't woriking.

Looks like a classic refresh rate problem.

The native refresh rate for the video card (in VESA mode...no drivers needed/loaded) is higher than the monitor supports for that particular resolution. Try changing to a lower resolution...

I'll try to do that.

Thank you

Lowered both resolution and refresh rate to a minimum but the tiling remained.

I found out that this problem only occurs with a digital connection between video-card and screen.
Replacing it by an old analog connection ms-dos and safe mode worked fine.
Maybe this information can help someone to solve the problem

I'm wondering if you might want to set up a dual boot situation where you can have only what you desire to play the MS-DOS games etc....

Looks like you have resolved the problem... :)

Thank you whyzman,

A dual boot system wouldn't have made any difference. It had something to do with the digital connection, although I haven't the slightest idea HOW it happens.

Yep, I saw that you resolved the problem Andre! Congrats! :) Always nice when the solution is something simple...

I take it you would like to go back to using the digital connection, right?

I have the sensation that the digital connection is better, but that could be my imagination.
If there's no solution, I can live with it, because I fear it's a problem in which hundreds of factors are playing a role.

Thanks mjc & Whyzman
