Hello all,
I had an earlier post about adding an adapter card for my Digital Camcorder. My specs are -- Dell Dimension 4100. 933mhz,256mb sdram,NVIDIA GeForce2 GTX 4X AGP graphics accelerator with 64MB of DDR,Intel 815E chipset, I am currently running Win98se. I purchased the following card and software for DV editing. http://www.vstore.com/cgi-bin/pagegen/vstorecomputers/campbell/page.html?mode=itempage&file=/page/itempagev4/itempage.spl&prodID=1168143&catID=111449.
Do you guys think this would be sufficiant for my needs? I just want to be able to transfer still photos and short home movies to CDR via the PC. Also I assume this thing is Plug and Pray, I have never installed a PCI device before, any potential problems I should know about? Any help/comments welcome.
TY in advance.

The function of the Dazzle DV-Editor is to give a computer three Firewire/IEEE1394 interface ports for use with a DV camera. This enables one to capture AVI video clips and still images from a digital video camera via the FireWire port. With the accompanying Ulead VideoStudio software, you can then edit and create your own AVI movies. After editing, you can copy the movies back to the digital camera.

The DV-Editor’s computer and digital camera requirements.

For the DV-Editor PCI card to function, the computer needs to be at least a Pentium II 200Mhz with a free Interrupt Request (IRQ) and an available PCI slot on the mother board. The camera has to be a DV camcorder with a FireWire IEEE 1394 In/Out port.

Installing the DV-Editor HW & SW

a) Shut down your computer and turn it off.

b) Properly insert and secure the FireWire PCI card into an available PCI slot in the computer.

c) Connect the FireWire cable to any one of the three FireWire ports on the computer. Connect the other end to the in/out FireWire port of the digital camera.

d) Turn on the computer and boot into Windows 98. The computer should say, "New Hardware found".

e) Insert the DVE Installation Disk into the computer and continue with the installation. Make sure to point the DAZZLE.INF file to the Dazzle CD-ROM drive letter. The installation will need the Windows 98 or 98SE CD-ROM or 98cab files for complete FireWire support.

f) Run the Setup.exe program on the Dazzle CD-ROM. Open the My Computer icon, then the CD ROM driver letter, and then double-click on the Setup.exe file. Follow the prompts and install all programs. Reboot the computer when the installation is complete.

Using the DVEditor software Ulead Video Studio

a) Start by having the Digital Camera powered On and in preview mode.

b) Launch Dazzle DV-Editor from the shortcut or from Start > Programs > Dazzle DV-Editor > Ulead Video Studio 4.0 SE.

c) Click on the New Project button (it looks like a piece of paper folded on the corner). This will open a New project and store it under the project name you give it in the path of C:\PROGRAM FILES\DAZZLE DV-EDITOR\ULEAD VIDEOSTUDIO 4.0 SE\ (Your Project Name). The Subject and Description fields are optional.

d) On the upper right in Available Project templates, choose "Template is from the capture settings", then choose OK.

e) To capture video from the digital camera, click on the picture of the video camera on the upper left. To capture a still picture digital camera, click on the picture of the photo camera on the lower left of the screen. Each video or picture will appear in the Story Book area.

Hope this helps you out some.
