Ok, First things first, I'm new to these forums... so hello to ya'll.

Anyway. Whenever I go to play a dvd, my playback program, wether it be wmp, or interactual player, I get this error message "Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings."

Problem is, I've tried doing that and going to the minimum resolution and its still not doing it. But! I think the problem is that when I go into Device Manager, my monitor (IBM E74 6332) is shown up as a standard Plug and Play monitor. Which I think may be causing the problem. Even after trying a different monitor, an Asus one, that still appears as a Plug and Play. I've got some win 98 drivers for the IBM monitor, but other than that.. I have no clue.

HELP ME!!!! its painful not being able to watch DVD's!

Here is a Link for the E74 INF file
This should allow you to add the correct monitor to indows

Or use this one and click on the download sidebar then select your exact model.

G'day blackwidow2,

Just go to the media player's options window (tools, options) and select file types. If you want wmp the defualt player, click select all files and it will make it the default player. Otherwise select manually what you want the media player wants to play (file types).

Hope this helps... I know what it's like not able to watch DVDs!!!!

Cheers.
