I have never heard of Easy CD Creator not working with a CDRW drive.
But I have heard of some versions of Easy CD Creator not working with Windows 2000.
Hope this helps http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks for the reply. Reading Easy CD Creator's web site they don't list this TDK drive. They list one that might be the same thing, just off on the last letter. X instead of B. I'm hoping it is the same drive.
Mike
P.S. I have windows 98SE.

These review's were on C\Net
(TDK VeloCD CD-R/RW)
This drive kicks butt - burns even 16X rated media at 24X and no coasters! The included Nero Burning ROM 5.5 works very well, but takes some time to get used to. As for you Roxio fans, don't believe all that you read here - you CAN use Easy CD Creator! They forgot to put the VeloCD "241040B" in their hardware list, and only listed the "241040X" model. Why, who knows? If you have the "241040B" (look at the faceplate), it will be recognized and work perfectly fine if you change one registry key. Go to HKEY_LOCAL MACHINESoftwareAdaptecAdaptec SharedCDEngineDevices1...then scrool down to "device 268". It will read "CDRW241040X" on this line twice instead of "CDRW241040B". Change the "X" to a "B" in both places and your problem is solved. Found this fix on the Roxio discussion list.

First off, please stop posting reviews that don't contain the system info! Mine is a duron 850 on an abit kt7a, windows 98. This is my first burner, I've had it for 2 weeks and formed the following opinion: It is a nice burner with OUTSTANDING tech support. Installing was a snap. The Nero burning software is not really super user friendly, but it isn't difficult either. It seems like it was written by hackers aimed at circumventing security protections, and therefore it also seems powerful and accurate. The "InCD" software (which is designed to format CD-RW's into giant floppys), is HORRIBLE!! Trying to use it crashed my system so badly that a two day fight ensued that eventually had me re-install windows and remove "InCD" permanently. I called tech support 3 times and they answered the phone within ten minutes, were knowledgable, helpful and professional--you won't get better elsewhere. Unfortunately, in the end they addmitted that InCD was worthless and they offered nothing but a promise for a huge software fix in a few months. So, if you want a nice burner with powerful software (Nero) and great tech support, I'd reccommend it. If you want the ability to drag and drop files to a CD-RW formatted in UDF, forget this one until they fix InCD or purchase Roxio's software (which for all I know is equally problematic).
Don't know if these will help you.

Thanks for your help. It has been very helpful and informative. I'm sorry for not posting my system. It's a Quantex 450 with 989SE. I'm new here and don't know all the ropes yet.
Again thank.

Hey stepchild,
Just reading thru this thread and I realized that maybe you thought this line First off, please stop posting reviews that don't contain the system info! Mine is a duron 850 on an abit kt7a, windows 98. , was directed at you.
I'm quite sure it was only there due to Yoda copying and pasteing from another source, and not something he typed. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif

Bassman,
Thanks for the info and thanks to all else who helped. The version of Easy CD Creator I got was 5.02. I down loaded version 5.02c from Roxio wed site and everything is working fine.
Now I don't have to go into the dark corners of my computer.
Again, thanks to all.
