I dont get these video cards. I have a vid-card that works on a agp slot. When trying to install new one the screen is just plain black. So I got new ones (by the way I get them for free so dont think i'm stupid or rich) but they dont work on agp slots or pci slots. I dont know what to do. I have a dell computer and a 128 rage ultra vid-card installed now. Please help me! If you can than post email and i'll send pictures of slots and cards.

Well from what you say if the card does not fit either agp or pci slot then the card maybe pci-express. When installing a new video card make sure you unistall the old drivers. Please post some pics so we may help you out more, and let use know what brand cards they are. BTW welcome to the forums.

Somewhere on the video card there's a model number. If you would post that we might be able to look up the manufacturer. Also, you could try just posting a link to an image if you already know the manufacturer and model of the card...

I took pics with my camera of the video cards and the slots on my computer. I think posting those might be easier than looking up the model # and putting a link. Anyway I can do that?

If you're going to try to post them directly into the thread, be aware that there is a memory limitation... Unless, you use something like Photobucket, where you can upload the images and then provide a link...
If there are any numbers on the card it might be well to just post those even if you don't personally attempt to look up a link to the manufacturer...
Give us what you've got... ;)

erm, pointing to a dead slot anyone?, you can try a PCI video card and tell us if that works, if it does, it is probably the AGP slot

Also could the agp slot be disabled in BIOS? Oe possibly is the motherboard set to boot to pci graphics or onboard? Possibly a jumper?
BTW, the Radeon is a 2x/4x agp and the ATI is a 2x. I cannot tell what the others are without some numbers to go by.

Sorry I think you guys mis-understood. Its not that my agp slot doesn't work its that my original video card is the only one that works. The radeon doesn't work and I tryed anything I could. But the other ones the problem is that I don't know what slot to put them in and if I have that slot. They don't fit in my agp slots and they don't fit in my pci slot. Can anyone tell me whats wrong?

Well, Heres the:
PCI-e X16: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814141032
AGP 2/4X: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102623
Here's the AGP 4/8X: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150157
It looks like the one that works with the 3 segmented contacts is a 2/4X AGP.
The other's are a bit confusing as the images from newegg show 2 segments on the pins, which would be the 4/8X AGP...however, they show long/short from the video connector...yours show short/long from the video connector... I'm not sure what they are yet...

Ok, I see the problem.
You've got a Dell system using a Pentium 4 CPU, and the i850 chipset with RDRAM. Bummer on the RDRAM, by the way. :( That's what I can see from the pics.
Next up is the AGP slot news. The i850 chipset series had an AGP 4x slot, but it is only 1.5V compatible. The older vid cards you have are 3.3V vid cards. Basically, you've got an AGP 2.0 mobo with AGP 1.0 vid cards. You can see more info on that here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerated_Graphics_Port) in relation to the voltage keys on the slots/cards.
Notice that the Radeon 7000 you have is a 1.5V and 3.3V compatible vid card, because it has both keys or "cut-outs" on the connector. The older Rage Pro Turbo vid card is obviously much older, circa 2000, and will not work in such a modern system. The other two cards look like some of the last NVidia AGP 1.0 vid card holdovers, probably GeForce FX5200's or something similar.
In short, the other vid cards you have are only compatible with older AGP 1.0 slots which provide 3.3V power. The slot you have in your system is a slightly newer AGP 2.0 slot that only provides 1.5V power. This is why the slots and cards of various AGP specs are keyed - to prevent the wrong vid card from being installed into the wrong slot. If you want a new vid card for that system, you'll have to go with either PCI or a newer AGP 8x/4x vid card.

I agree with Saph's view, if it means anything.
:)
I had lots of trouble with AGP cards myself, until I understood the differences, so don't dispair!
