hi this is awesh here from india the problem i am facing is that i have a dual boot with xp and server 2003
in 2003 the internet is working absolutely fine whereas in xp im unable to contact my isp's default gateway itself i think there have been some changes made by some virus so can any one help with this please

Hi - Welcome to the PC Guide Forums.
First thing to do is to check the configuration of the network card.
Open a command prompt and run ipconfig - this will give you a clear indication of how your card is configured.
If it has the wrong information, change the settings (I'm assuming that as you are running a dual boot, you are probably proficient at setting your network card as well)
If it has the right settings, try pinging the gateway. If successful, then there are a couple of possibilities, and the first thing I'd look at is your firewall settings.
I see from this thread that it has been split in two. - If the other part is related to viruses, then sort that out first - HijackThis is going to play a part, but I've no doubt that is the advice you will receive from the security section, so I won't cover that. It could be that you are being redirected or something similar.
Once that is sorted, post back here and we'll see if we can take it further.
