Hi, I have a Samsung SV6003H Hard drive. I would like to upgrade it to a 200gb-250gb hard drive. I don't know what kind of hard drive will work. I would really appreciate if you could help me out here?

It would be better to know the spec for your computer, not the drive...so could you post all your computer info?

Please list the specification of PSU by Watt instead of Volt.

You will need an IDE/Ultra ATA drive. You may have a size limitation, that may or may not be curable with a BIOS update.

Sony will only support the original hard drive included with the computer. Specifications and information for upgrading to a larger hard drive is not supported by Sony and is not provided. Larger hard drives may or may not be supported. Additional support and information may be provided by the hard drive manufacturer.

That is from the Sony support site...so, what size drive it will take...who knows.

Other boards with this chipset seemed to add support for larger drives, after the date of the last BIOS update from Sony.

So, there is no real way of knowing what size is the upper limit. (Unless there is omeone here who has intimate knowledge of that machine/chipset/BIOS version).

If you are just wanting additional storage space you could still buy the large drive and add it to your system whilst retaining the original drive as is.

If when added as a second drive into the system there are problems accessing it due to its large size (commonly if it is larger than 128GiB/137GB) you would still have the option of grabbing a USB or Firewire HDD Caddy which does support such large drives and putting the drive into that and then accessing it as an external storage HDD.
