View Full Version : Windows 2000 installation error code 5

I have recently format my HDD 30Gb with win98 bootable cd but i want to install win2000 so when i boot my pc with 2000 bootable i gatting an error like this "Can not boot from cd errror code 5. I checked everything but i m unable to solve this problem can anybody help me.
Please give me reply as soon as possible.

Actully i have lot of data to buckup so i have connected my hdd to another pc (P-4) and after getting all data formatted my HDD in that system with win98 bootable.Afterthat I have connected my HDD to my pc and tryed to boot from win2000bootable cd but now I m getting an error like this "can not boot from cd error cod-5.
Pls. do the needfull as soon as possible.

Suggest you wipe the HDD or at least delete all partitions on it prior to attempting to boot to the CD. If the problems persists then try booting from the four Win2K setup boot floppies (http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm) or do a HDD installation (http://www.iol.ie/%7Ekrakowangus/winnt.htm) for which the instructions are the same for Win2K as WinXP.
