Videos don't show on screen

The audio for the videos plays but the video doesn't show up or if it does its really faded and tinted red. this happens for windows media, quicktime, and divx. Streaming videos like you tube and google video play fine though

This may be a drive issue or settings in the drivers.
Do you have the latest drivers for your videocard ?
What card are you using ?

Is you monitor set to anything special ?

i have the latest Nvidia drivers, i have not tried to re-install the video driver, as it might have not installed correctly. I'm not sure what you mean by is my monitor set to anything special but i don't think so. 7950 GX2

well turns out it was the video driver i just needed to re-install it thanks anyways

Many times when this happens it's because the video format isn't supported by the codecs installed on your machine. I could hear the audio, but no video for some .avi files on my machine. Once I installed the DivX codec it worked fine. Just something to keep in mind for future reference.
