can anyone recommend a good web site to but computer components such as mothermoards, cpu's etc. also looking for pc upgrade kit - screwdriver, torch etc. and some cpu paste for the heatsink.
I've been searching the web but haven't found a comprehensive site to buy my equipment. I am based in the UK but don't mind ordering from an international site if they deliver to the UK.

Hello Rasell and welcome,
If you have been watching the forums for any amount of time, I'm sure you noticed that we have quite a group from the UK. I'm sure they will be along shortly to help with more local venders, but in the mean time, here are a few of my favorites.
Geeks (http://www.computergeeks.com) lot of refurbished goods
Edge Micro (http://www.edgemicro.com) not the greatest selection but good pricing
New Egg (http://www.newegg.com) Decent selection, decent pricing, I have not bought from them yet, but see it referred here alot.

Not sure if any deliver to the UK, (with UPS, not sure why thet wouldn't) but you can check with them directly.
Good luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif

Go to pricewatch.com - you can take it from there.

Hi rasell. I only know of a couple (apart from Amazon). Skytronik (http://www.skytronik.com/skytronik/www/default.asp) is a firm from whom I have previously got good and cheapish RAM. My only problem with them was that they would only accept creditcards from the UK. Crucial-UK (http://www.crucial.com/UK/) are probably the best to get RAM from, especially if you are unsure of the correct type to get.

Amazon-UK (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/stores/browse/-/welcome/468294/202-2656727-5569428) don't stock that much hardware and are not the cheapest but are very efficient.

I too would love to find some good on-line UK computer hardware shops aimed at the DIY pc-builders. So any of you across the Irish Sea see if you can come up with any goodies. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif

You guys in the US just don't know how lucky you are. Loads of good sites and components that cost in $$ what they cost in ££ over here!!! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif

BTW Remember to quote the PCGuide as the source of the Links if you use them to make purchases. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif

I found ebuyer.com quite good.
I saw some good deals from watford.co.uk in the pcadvisor.co.uk magazone but have not checked out their site.
