Although ZoneAlarm and AOL version 6 are now living in perfect harmony under both Windows 98SE and ME, I am wondering whether it is worthwhile upgrading to AOL v.7. Or should I leave well alone?
(I only ask because ZA and AOL5 were fighting like cats and dogs.)

Ummmmm....if it ain't broke....
I think any AOL "upgrade" (every time my sister does something with her AOL I am on the phone with her for several hours "fixing" things) is like playing Russian roulette, so let it run until you HAVE to do it...
The question I think you should ask your self is: Is there anything in this new version that is absolutely needed/essential (if the update is to fix a known problem that you are currently experiencing then yes) or is it something that I would like to have...and are the risks involved in adding this new "convenience" feature worth it?

Greetings Pianorak,
If it's working, leave it alone. I've spent at least a full day over the last month dealing with problems associated with upgrading to AOL 7.0 which are still not entirely resolved. In fact I'm currently looking at alternative ISPs.

How perfect that this was one of the first topics I saw, recovering from TOTAL SYSTEM FAILURE, because I tried to upgrade something that was working just fine.
In the process of reloading my system I decided to go with AOL 7.0.
I wouldn't recommend it just to see if its worth it. Matter of fact, I may just go back to 6.0, not sure yet.
My problems were not from anything AOL. I tried to upgrade to IE 6.0 from an ATT worldnet disk (Don't do that) and appearently lost the single most important file in a Windows system http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif
So, IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!!!!! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
